The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is conducting its Municipal Census 2021 (Census 2021) between April 1 and July 31, 2021.

You are here because you have taken the first step to participate in Census 2021. Thank you!

The purpose of the census is to update the official population figures, including the permanent and shadow population. It is essential that we count each person in our Municipality on April 1, 2021, and we need your help to make this happen.

Your participation in the Census 2021 contributes

  • Valuable information to help plan better for needs of the communities, including the number and location of schools, parks, transportation networks, utilities, and emergency services and other,
  • Valuable information needed for the provision of health and community services,
  • Information to support and enhance diversity.

This municipal census is being conducted under the authority of section 57 of the Municipal Government Act. The collection of personal information is authorized by section 33(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The enumerators involved in the census have sworn an Oath of Confidentiality. All information collected will be kept confidential and used only to produce anonymous statistics.
